Beautiful solid silver pocket watch from Waltham that was made in 1906. The Nickel Full plate movement is a model 1883 top grade "Appleton Tracey" with 17 jewels, screw set gold jewel settings, gold timing screws, a patent micro- regulator, and multiple timekeeping adjustments.
The movement is beautifully finished with intricate damaskening and black enamel script. This was serviced in March this year and has a new mainspring. The watch runs extremely well and keeps very good time. The watch is crown wind and crown set.
The heavy 2 piece swing out case is in solid 0.925 sterling silver and is in really good condition. Having just the one removeable cover these were the most protective cases available at the time. The movement is secured within a solid ring that is itself hinged to the main body of the case.
The cases were also made from a heavier gauge material than the more standard type of case. This particular case has no dents, dings or heavy abrasion and features an inlaid gold coloured locomotive on the rear. The double sunk white enamel dial is to Canadian 24 hour spec. With a Roman numeral 12 hour outer track and an Arabic numeral 13-24 inner track.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or hairlines and with all of the printing crisp and sharp. A good set of blued steel spade style hands and under a really thick mineral glass crystal.
The crystal does have quite a bit of surface scratching but these original thick crystals are just about impossible to find nowadays and the modern acrylic crystals just wouldn't look right, so I have left this alone. Overall, a super Antique Waltham in excellent condition that is working as it should. This item is in the category "Jewellery & Watches\Watches, Parts & Accessories\Watches\Pocket Watches".
