Original 1876 Silver stem winding John Rotherams pocket watch, not working

This is a very original Silver gentleman's pocket watch which has been retailed and made for H. Gibson of Pontypridd in Wales but was made by John Rotherhams & Son with the case that is heavy duty and has the sponsor mark of "JR" in a diamond shaped reserve stamp for "John Rotherhams & Son" signed for the retailer in Wales the classic early English hand made "Stem Winding" movement is very well made and has what looks to be a Gold balance possibly? The solid heavy case with assay hallmarks for what looks to be 1876 and a Birmingham assay stamp as you would expect for Rotherhams. The watch is not working but the balance seems to be swinging and ok, the watch hand sets but when winding it feels like the mainspring is either missing or broken as it has little resistance to the winding? The case also needs a clean and polish up but its basically in very good original condition and has the odd knock etc but for a watch almost 150 years old its very good. The winding is solid and appears to be fully wound has not been assessed though the balance is swinging and seems ok. Size: approx 5 cm across.
