ANTIQUE SILVER FUSEE POCKET WATCH, IMPROVED PATENT, c1891. A good, gentleman's sterling silver cased Fusee Pocket Watch made in London and dating from c1855. This watch is a good example, in nice condition and in good working order.
The case has full English hallmarks for sterling silver. The maker's mark "AC" for Albert Curtis, a watch case maker registered as working from Cope Street, Coventry, the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the London town mark and the date letter "Q" for 1891/92. It is in good overall condition for its age, with engine turned engraving to the rear. The inside of the rear cover has a former owner's name engraved.
The white enamel dial is in very good condition. It has the hours in Roman numerals and a sub-seconds dial at six o'clock. It is signed Improved Patent. The good quality, fusee, lever movement is in excellent working order. The balance cock is very nicely engraved.It is key wound and set with the key provided. The watch measures 52mm in diameter.
